Our goal is to use a modern approach for teaching our children the love of Jesus in a fun-filled environment, each class will provide a firm foundation in a child’s life that can lead to a genuine long-lasting relationship with Jesus our savior. In a rotational setting, the same Bible story is taught for several week, but the children will rotate weekly to a different station. The story remains the same, but the children will encounter it in different ways in each station. The more different ways children explore a story or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories. The children in our ministry are gaining knowledge of the Bible and Christian faith and its application to everyday life experience. Our Children’s Sunday School ministry is designed to reach (1st – 5thgraders) and they will meet every Sunday morning in the Old Sanctuary and will follow the schedule below:

  • Praise & Worship - 9:30 - 10:05 (3rd -5th Grade)
  • Praise & Worship - 10:10 - 10:50 (1st & 2nd Grade)
  • Bible Lessons - 10:10 - 10:50 (3rd -5th Grade)
  • Bible Lessons - 9:30 - 10:05 (1st & 2nd Grade)
  • Rotational Sunday School - 10:50 - 12:15 (The children will rotate classes weekly)

1. Shepherds - The Shepherds will travel with the children station to station providing continuity, building relationships with the children and nurture them so they will experience the love of Jesus through you. You may also need to assist teachers in the classroom (Bible, Missions, Science, etc.). I would also like for the shepherds to mail cards (Birthday, miss you, etc.) throughout the year as needed. Responsibilities Include - Focus on the children, get to know each and every one of them and love them as Jesus would. Watch for visitors and also for children who need assistance. Take attendance and sign the children in and out (3rd, 4th & 5th grade children may leave on their own after the service). Participation in the quarterly Sunday school meetings. www.biblesearch.com

2. Bible Lessons (Planting the Seeds) - Bible teaching should be relevant and application-oriented so that we equip the children to apply scripture to their lives. A lesson that uses arts/drama, media or visual aides are more likely to be effective then one that uses the teacher talk/kids listen approach, be open and ask the kids what they think about how they can apply the lesson in their lives. Responsibilities Include - Delivering the bible lesson in a way that the children can understand and encourage them to apply to scripture in their lives. The more that the kids know about the bible the more they will understand how to make wise decisions in their lives. Rotational Sunday School Stations (Rotate Weekly)

1. Social Skills (Bible Games) - The children will play a variety of learning games ranging from motor skill games to quiet interactive games and may need room to safely spread out (Weather permitting, some activities may be played outside) www.christiancrafters.com/page10.html

2. Personal Care/Cooking - This station will encourage biblical living in a non-biblical world and may also include some cooking.

3. Science - Depending on the Bible theme, the Science station may include research, experiments, geography or physical sciences. Through exploration of God’s world, the mystery and awesomeness of God can be revealed. This station might simply have potted plants in the room or could include microscopes, magnets or even an aquarium.

4. Missions - This station will include the concepts of caring and sharing are central themes throughout scripture. The spirit of service in individuals is born early on. As children grow, their spirit and service will also grow as long as we nurture that spirit. Church is the number one place where children can learn about service and volunteer activities and opportunities. Each unit contains suggestions for ways to actively involve the children in a mission project related to the Bible story. www.christiancrafters.com/missions_for_kids.html or www.missionarlington.org

5. Arts &Crafts - This station speaks for itself, it can also move beyond crafts to art appreciation and the use of art as a learning tool. www.christiancrafters.com/missions_for_kids.html
