Our Answers to Current Cultural Topics

In light of the days we're living in, some may want to know where the church stands on current cultural topics. Our senior pastor received questions from our congregation addressing some cultural topics. Such as:

  • Where do we stand on the use of politics?

  • Where do we stand on social justice?

  • Where do we stand on the LGBTQ+ community?

  • Where do we stand on the "woke worldview"?

  • How do we define or categorize false teachings/teachers?

In the sermons below, Pastor Chris shares our answer to where we stand as a church on these current cultural topics. Then, beneath the videos is his written answer to another cultural question.

Another question has been asked of our church: "Are we a safe place for members of the LGBTQ+ community?"

Here is Pastor Chris' answer:

"I would like to believe that we are, but that does depend on the expectations of any member of the LGBTQ+ community that would come to our church. If the expectation is would we welcome them and accept them as is?  Yes, I believe we would. If the expectation is would we allow them to become members of the church and serve here?  Yes, so long as they complete our membership class and agree to submit to our church covenant. If the expectation is will we affirm what they believe about sexuality where it contrasts what the Bible explicitly teaches?  No, that we will not do.  "Safe" is subjective. If we're both clear and agree on what "safe" is, then yes, I do believe we are a safe place for members of the LGBTQ+ community to come and worship God, serve God, and be discipled in the likeness of our Savior, Jesus Christ."
