Our Story

Northwest’s beginnings officially started in 1968. For the first 11 years, there was turbulence, like in any family. But God moved among His people. Our small church was able to purchase land, construct a building, and witness many people come to life in Jesus Christ.

From 1968 to 1979, Northwest had 4 senior pastors. On December 2, 1979, Northwest would hire their fifth and longest-term pastor to lead them for the next 37 years. God, through Pastor Gary Glanville, would lead our church through significant seasons of growth, expansion, and sustainability. Throughout that period of time, our “Promise” play and “Mega Sports & Art Camp” have touched hundreds of people and families in our surrounding communities.

In 2016, Pastor Gary retired and our church hit a rough spot. But God’s love for us and our love for God and one another held us together. During that difficult season in the life of our church, God sent us a breath of fresh air in interim pastor, Fred Dyer. Pastor Fred lovingly steered our ship until we hired our new Senior Pastor, Chris Davis, in July 2019. Pastor Chris is a Baltimore native and former U.S. Marine with some unique life and ministry experiences while he served as an ordained pastor of churches in California.

In 2023, Northwest is now 55 years old. We don't feel like we're getting older but rather becoming something new. After surviving a worldwide pandemic in 2020 and a complete operational restructuring in 2022, we are still rebuilding! We are excited to see where else and how else God will lead our church in this current period and in the years to come.
